Veedow is a new startup from the UK which was brought to life by 5 enthusiastic individuals based in East London. Sophisticated technology behind Veedow collects a wide range of shopping-related information from multiple sources and distributes it to users according to their chosen interests. All what a user needs to do is to select what type of product he or she is interested in, and Veedow will do all the work constantly bringing updated information about new products, services, information, websites, promotions and events. The Veedow team gave us a unique solution to the meaningful, useful, and right-in-time delivery of information of individual interest.

Still, Veedow does not stop at aggregation of the related items of interest - they go even further by creating a social network around this functionality. Now, users can have their personalized profile and a list of friends. They can upload and link to information they want to share, they can bookmark items of interest, and create Wishlists. Another fun and useful feature that is coming out soon is the Chronology feature. Chronology keeps track of everything that was displayed on user's Personal Page in the previous days. So if you want to retrieve anything you hadn't watched, saved or put into your Wishlist you still have a chance to get it!

The guys at Veedow wrote an intriguing reasoning behind the birth of their service:

"We came up with the idea for Veedow when we realised that finding information and inspiration about the things we like to shop for had become more time consuming and less satisfactory. There's so much information available on the Internet that finding a good way to filter it has become a huge challenge.
Most sites offer you a direct approach to the problem - you search for what you need in a specific moment. This method works well when you have only one item in mind, however it's not very practical for the window shopper or for those looking for new ideas and inspiration.
Veedow gives you the opportunity to receive relevant information without the need to perform specific searches. All the information you need is brought to you in your Personal Page. This translates into a smooth and effortless discovery process and a tailored shopping experience.
There are many ways you can use the service - it's made for you and has the flexibility to be shaped into what you want it to be!"

I'd like to use this opportunity to wish the Veedow team best of luck and millions of users!

Great review Ivan, thanks! If I can add just one thing I'd mention another feature that is in the pipeline - the Gift Finder. We will open it as soon as we will have enough activity on the site because the Gift Finder is tightly related with the preferences expressed by our community. Cheers, Fabio

Virtual company vs headquarters (9)
by Mark Kofman, CEO, SourceKibitzer

I would like to discuss with the community the issue of how start-ups should operate. Whether it is more reasonable to be virtual company with employees working from home. Or is it still more efficient to get together in one physical office every day.

by Shafqat Islam, CEO, NewsCred

I'd like to get the community's thoughts on when to start looking for formal advisers? Is it even necessary? If so, what are some of the strategies that can help find great advisers.

Development teams. In-house or remote? (5)
by Fabio De Bernardi, MD, Veedow Ltd.

Both my co-founder and I are not techies. We are developing a pretty complex web app and we decided to have an internal team of 2 developers to start with. Now the costs of in-house London based developers is a bottleneck for our growth and we're looking abroad to find cheap and talented people to w ...   [read more]
